DAVIS' US PATENTS
The following American patents have been taken from slide-plates in Davis Sewing Machines. Most of them are signed by Job Anthony Davis, some are as "Assignor to the Davis Sewing Machine Company" and few of them, based only on the date, I have no clue which one the company was referring to.

The inventor claim:
The method of feeding the cloth or other substance to the needle for the progress of the seam by means of the foot or pad which holds it to the table, substantially as specified, by means of which the cloth or other substance can be turned on the needle as its axis while the needle is in it and the foot or pad is lifted up preparatory to the feed motion, as set forth.

The Singer patent US 10.974 could explain why the The Combination” so called, composed of the Singer, Wheeler & Wilson and Grove & Baker companies, who shared royalties in common on certain patents, claimed that the Davis was an infringement and only by January 1869 the Davis Sewing Machine Company settled the action brought against them, paying to them 40 cents on early Davis machine manufactured.
